FDA Coordination
(USA Donor Screening)

Simple, nurse‑led support to organise your required U.S. FDA donor screening — from paperwork to courier pick‑up.

If your Australian clinic is sending sperm, eggs or embryos to the United States, U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) rules require a communicable‑disease screening (often called an “FDA Collection”). We coordinate the moving parts so you can focus on your cycle. We work alongside your fertility clinic, GP and the receiving U.S. laboratory.

FDA Coordination

Who this Service is for?

  • Individuals/couples whose sperm, eggs or embryos will be used in the USA (e.g. embryo creation, transfer, or storage)

  • People who have been asked by their clinic to complete “FDA testing” or “FDA donor screening” in the week of their procedure

Timing matters: FDA donor screening must be collected within 7 days of the relevant procedure (e.g. egg collection, sperm freeze, or embryo creation). We’ll help you plan the week so collection and courier pick‑up stay in window.

FDA Coordination

What’s Included

  • Scheduling of sperm‑freeze appointments (if needed)

  • Coordination of FDA blood & urine sample collection

  • Liaison with your IVF clinic (Australia) and the receiving team overseas

  • Preparation, labelling and courier shipping of your FDA donor kit to the USA

  • Help to find a GP for the physical assessment (where required)

Note: We coordinate the process; clinical decisions and laboratory testing are provided by your GP/clinic/laboratories.

What this service helps with

  • Keeps the timeline on track (7‑day window)

  • Reduces admin by coordinating clinics, couriers and labs

  • Provides clear prep instructions so you arrive ready for collection

What this service can’t control

  • Third‑party delays (courier, customs, laboratories)

  • Clinic/lab fees and their turnaround times

  • Eligibility decisions made by clinics/labs in Australia or the USA

We’ll do our best to keep everything moving, and we’ll communicate quickly if anything changes.

FDA Coordination

What to Expect (step‑by‑step)

  1. Book an information session
We’ll confirm your goals, clinic, likely timeline, and where collection will occur.

  2. Complete your intake
We’ll send a simple form so we can coordinate with your Australian clinic and the receiving U.S. lab.

  3. Arrange your GP physical assessment
Your clinic will provide the Male/Female Physical Assessment form. We can help you locate a GP if needed.

  4. Plan your collection week
We’ll aim to schedule blood + urine collection (and semen analysis/freezing if required) within 7 days of your procedure date. Your clinic provides the FDA Donor Kit (e.g., IHD/other partner labs) — bring it to collection.

  5. Collection day — quick prep

    • Eat and drink 1.5–2 hours before your appointment (arrive well‑hydrated).

    • Avoid drinking in the hour before collection (a urine sample is required).

    • Bring your kit and photo ID.

  6. Courier to the USA
We pack, label and dispatch early in the week (Mon–Wed) to support weekday delivery.

  7. Confirmation
We’ll let you know when your kit has been shipped; your clinic receives the results directly from the lab.

Where collection happens
We coordinate with approved collection partners in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, as well as The Infusion Centre — Parkwood (Gold Coast) for eligible components. Your exact location will be confirmed during booking.

What’s in the test panel?
Your clinic and the receiving U.S. lab determine the exact panel. In general, donor screening looks for relevant communicable diseases using FDA‑cleared tests. Typical panels may include screening for HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, chlamydia/gonorrhoea, and seasonal or region‑specific viruses (e.g. West Nile Virus) and, for males, CMV. Your doctor/clinic will advise the final requirements for you.
