FDA COORDINATION

Australian based support to organise your required U.S. FDA donor screening, from paperwork through to courier pick‐up.

If you’re planning IVF treatment with a clinic in the United States, an FDA infectious disease screening test is required. Our team liaises directly with your overseas clinic and coordinates the logistics to help this process run as smoothly as possible.

Planning to send sperm, eggs, or embryos to the USA?

Before your samples can be accepted, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires a specific infectious disease screening (often called an “FDA collection”).

We take care of the logistics for you, coordinating with your fertility specialist, local pathology provider, and the receiving U.S. laboratory, so you can stay focused on your cycle instead of the paperwork and timing.

Ready to get started?

Book our free Info session or complete the FDA intake form and our team will contact you within 2 business days to discuss your requirements.

Who this service is for

This service is for individuals or couples whose sperm, eggs, or embryos will be used in the USA (for example, for embryo creation, transfer, or storage).

While we have no control over how long laboratories take to release specimens, our team will liaise with your clinic and the receiving laboratory to help expedite the shipping paperwork wherever possible.

Timing matters. FDA donor screening must be collected within 7 days of your procedure (for example, sperm freeze, egg freezing, or embryo creation) and we work with you to ensure your collection and courier pick-up stay within the required window.

  • Scheduling sperm-freeze appointments (if required)

  • Coordinating your FDA blood and urine sample collection

  • Preparing, labelling, and arranging courier shipping of your FDA donor kit to the USA

  • Assisting you to locate a GP for the physical assessment (where required)

Please note: We coordinate the process; all clinical decisions and laboratory testing are provided by your GP, fertility clinic, and the relevant laboratories.

What This Service Helps With

  • Keeps your timeline on track (7-day window compliance)

  • Reduces administrative burden by managing clinics, couriers, and labs

  • Provides clear preparation instructions so you arrive ready for collection

What This Service Can’t Control

There are some parts of the process that sit outside our control, including:

  • Third-party delays, such as courier, customs, or laboratory processes

  • Laboratory turnaround times for overseas specimen processing

  • Shipping and processing fees charged by your overseas clinic (these are billed separately and are not included in our coordination fee)

  • Clinic or laboratory fees in Australia or overseas, as well as their internal turnaround times

  • Eligibility or suitability decisions made by clinics or laboratories in Australia or the USA

We’ll always do our best to keep everything moving efficiently and let you know promptly if anything changes.

Where collection happens

We coordinate with approved collection partners in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, as well as The Infusion Centre, Parkwood (Gold Coast).

Your exact location will be confirmed at the time of booking and we may also be able to organise collection in your state if you are outside of the above areas.

What’s in the test panel?

Your clinic and the receiving U.S. laboratory determine the exact test panel. In general, FDA donor screening checks for communicable diseases using FDA-cleared assays.

Typical panels include testing for:

  • HIV, Hepatitis B & C, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea

  • Region-specific viruses (e.g., West Nile Virus)

  • CMV (Cytomegalovirus) for male donors

Your fertility clinic or doctor will confirm your specific requirements.
